Oh. Wow. It's almost time.
This entire time I've been on my mini-break I haven't quite felt anything, besides panic, while waiting for paperwork to get back to me. And now it's the day before. What do I feel....hrm..
I'm nervous, definitely nervous. Mostly that I'll forget something. These past couple of days I've been putting skype on my laptop and the home computer so that me and the familia can talk while I'm away. Also putting on webcams (which I've yet to do on this computer). That's actually a good thing...because I'm putting off finishing packing. It's nerve wracking. I feel like I have lots of electronics to bring, like my lap top, the web cam, my camera, the cords for the camera, the cd for the camera...Okay..not that much.... But still.
I'm also reaaaaaaaaaaally excited. This is a new chapter in the life of Kevin and I have no idea what to expect! Sure I lived in Okinawa for 3 years, but that pretty much doesn't count. Now I'll be living with a family and actually immersed in a culture that's not my own. Excited might be an understatement.
I'm not looking forward to the flight though. Airplanes and I don't always get along.
The next time I update should be over a week. We'll be taking an 8 day tour of Honshu, a mix of neat sight seeing for us. The Director of the program over there is also taking us to educate us on the culture, so we don't embarass ourselves when we are interacting with actual people. I like this. This is key.
OH!
One final thing, to explain the "Ooo, Waffles!" This was a quote from the t.v show "Heroes". In it, the character "Hiro" finds himself, with his friend, in an American diner, and gets excited about the waffles and exclaims the aforementioned quote. Also he's Japanese. So...not completely random, but I think it suits me.
Take care all! I'll miss everyone a lot!
